Relations with other habitat types

After severe storms, these communities might expand and colonise inner areas, only to be eventually replaced by N131.

Regional distribution

Widespread along the sandy shores of the ecorregion but always localised in narrow fringes, since only by means of the abundance of mineral nutrients supplied by the drift-line are these highly specialised plants able to complete their very short life-cycles and release resistant and potentially sea-borne seeds before being killed by the frequent disturbances brought by ordinary storms.
