Fritillaria legionensis

Overview

The principal hallmark of this narrowly endemic species is the whorl of usually 3, sometimes 4 and even just a pair of alternate erect leaves greatly exceeding the flowers. It has been often confounded with scattered individuals of the usually smaller and far more widespread Fritillaria pyrenaica fortuitously bearing similar arrangements in their upper leaves.
