Betula celtiberica

Overview

Iberian tetraploid birches with hairy young twigs (as in "Betula pubescens"), but with abundant resinous glands, have been considered a distinct taxon. Their most likely taxonomic placement would be as a subspecies or variety of "B. pubescens", with a stronger affinity to "B. pendula" than the type species (Wang et al. 2016. https://doi.org/10.1093/aob/mcw048).
