Waterlogged habitats dominated by tall helophytes in the mesotrophic to eutrophic, periodically exposed margins of still or slow-flowing water bodies.

This habitat is not protected under the EU Habitat Directive.

Relations with other habitat types

These communities (sometimes fringing, unlike Q531, riparian forests of unit T111) are generally dominated in each site by clonal beds of a single species, without much ecological difference between the stands of each one. Therefore, creating a new umbrella regional unit is the most operational solution at level IV, by contrast with the very analytical original EUNIS treatment. Halophytic stands (see MA223) should be excluded anyway.
